How To Apply New Windows XP Themes

Installing Windows XP Themes

Most themes that you download or purchase are self-extracting and are applied automatically.

But in some cases you would only be given a single file with extensions '.theme' or '.msstyles' etc.

In such cases you will need to copy the files to your windows theme folder.

  • Open the drive or local disk on which your OS is installed. Usually it is C:.
  • Click on 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'. If Folders are already been shown then Skip this step.
  • Open the 'WINDOWS' folder.
  • Now open the 'Resources' folder.
  • Next open the 'Themes' folder.
  • You have to paste the theme file here.
Another method is that you right-click on the desktop area. (Not on any icon)
Then click on 'Properties'.
Properties Window will show up.
Click on the 'Themes' tab.
There you can find a list of pre-loaded themes.
Click on the arrow to show the drop-down menu.
Click on 'Browse...'
Select the folder where you have downloaded the theme file.
Click on open.

Enjoy...........
